Relay for Life Kick-Off Event

The American Cancer Society's Relay for Life Kick-Off was held on November 19 at Stonewall Title Company.  This is the 20th year for Relay for Life in Hood County and plans are in place to make this the biggest Relay for Life yet. Granbury ISD School Board Swears in Trustees, Elects New Officers

The Granbury ISD Board of Trustees met for its regular monthly meeting on November 18, 2013, and swore in newly elected members and named new board officers. Ribbon Cutting - Paluxy River Children's Advocacy Center

A Ribbon Cutting and Open House was held for Children's Advocacy Center on November 15, 2013.  They have relocated to 1540 Southtown Dr. Suites 102 & 103 (near Courtyards at Lake Granbury). The facility has more offices and space.  Children's Advocacy's Mission Statement is: To promote the healing of child abuse victims - One Child at a Time."  Darlene Mitchum is the Board President and Kerri Stannall is the Executive Director.  

Granbury Students "Live Thankfully"

Granbury students are participating in the first annual live thankfully! canned food drive to assist local families in need during the Thanksgiving holiday. The community initiative, which will benefit local charitable organization Mission Granbury, was organized by Pediatric Dental of Granbury.  The program will provide groceries and turkey dinners to the local families. School Board Canvasses Election Returns

The Granbury ISD Board of Trustees held a special meeting on November 13, 2013, to canvass the results from the November 2013 bond and trustee elections. The board approved the results, which indicated that both bond propositions passed and candidate Joe Jones was the winner of the contested Place 6 race. School Trustees Approve Land Sale for County REC Center

The Granbury ISD Board of Trustees approved the sale of land across from Acton Middle School to Hood County for a new recreational center during a special meeting on November 8, 2013.  The center will also have a natatorium to be used by the Granbury High School swim team. The board approved an amended real estate contract to sell the land to the county for $175,000.  The amount equals the value of the land as determined by an independent appraiser. Colten Bison, a Granbury High School junior and state president of the Texas 4-H Council, addressed the Central Texas County Judges and Commissioners Conference on November 6, 2013, in Waco.
